Texas A&M football recruiting may have just received a major opportunity. Elite 2027 edge rusher Jabarrius Garror, previously committed to Alabama, has reopened his recruitment - and the Aggies are already positioning themselves as a serious contender.
Garror, one of the most explosive pass rushers in the country, is scheduled to take an official visit to Texas A&M on June 5, giving head coach Mike Elko and his staff a chance to make a major impression.
For a program building its future in the trenches, Garror represents the type of defensive weapon the Aggies desperately want.
The Mobile, Alabama native has been a nightmare for opposing offenses at Vigor High School, putting together jaw-dropping numbers over the past two seasons.
Garror has totaled 210 tackles, 42.5 sacks and 88.5 tackles for loss, along with seven pass breakups during his sophomore and junior campaigns.
Those numbers explain why recruiting services view him as one of the most dangerous defenders in the 2027 cycle.
According to 247Sports, Garror ranks as the No. 90 overall prospect nationally, the No. 12 edge rusher in the country, and the No. 3 player in the state of Alabama.
His blend of explosiveness, speed off the edge and relentless motor has made him a priority target for multiple powerhouse programs.
Texas A&M isn’t the only program chasing him, though. Garror has a busy summer recruiting schedule lined up. He plans to visit Auburn in late May, Texas on June 12, and will return to Alabama on June 18 as the Crimson Tide attempt to pull him back into the fold.
Still, the Aggies appear determined to make a strong push. Elko and his coaching staff are entering a pivotal recruiting stretch while simultaneously preparing for spring practice, where they will integrate 17 transfer portal additions and 26 players from the 2026 recruiting class.
Even with that immediate focus, the Aggies are already laying groundwork for the next wave of talent. Landing Garror would be a massive statement.
The Aggies have already secured a commitment from four-star edge prospect Kaden McCarty, and adding Garror would give Texas A&M a terrifying future pass-rushing duo.
For now, the battle is just beginning ... but the Aggies are officially in the fight.
