Texas A&M added four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen, giving Mike Elko another elite defender in the nation’s No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class.
Texas A&M football just added another weapon to a recruiting class that’s starting to look downright unfair.
Four-star outside linebacker Mikahi Allen committed to the Aggies on Saturday, choosing Texas A&M over South Carolina and Texas.
The 6-1, 240-pound defender from Ramsey, New Jersey, is ranked No. 58 in the SC Next 300 and stands as ESPN’s No. 5 outside linebacker in the 2027 cycle.
Allen isn’t merely another highly rated name; he’s exactly the kind of versatile defender Mike Elko's scheme covets.
A former safety, Allen brings legitimate speed to the second level. He has also posted impressive times in the 100- and 200-meter dash at Don Bosco Prep, giving him the athletic profile to rush the passer, chase plays from the backside and survive in coverage.
His junior-season production gave a preview of what could be.
Allen finished with 58 tackles, seven sacks, three interceptions and three forced fumbles. That combination of disruption and ball production makes him far more than a traditional downhill linebacker.
Texas A&M’s 2027 class now features 17 prospects ranked inside the SC Next 300, tied with Notre Dame for the most nationally.
The Aggies also hold six five-star commitments, including offensive tackles Kennedy Brown and Mark Matthews, wide receiver Eric McFarland, edge rusher Zyron Forstall and defensive backs Raylaun Henry and Kamarui Dorsey.
The linebacker haul may be even more ridiculous.
Allen joins five-star Kaden Henderson, four-stars Frederick Ards and Kaden McCarty, and three-star Texas prospect Aston Whiteside.
That gives the Aggies four of ESPN’s top 10 outside linebackers in the class.
Good luck finding snaps against that group.
The momentum comes after Texas A&M reached the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history. Elko has now paired on-field results with one of the most aggressive recruiting pushes in the country.
Texas A&M hasn’t signed the nation’s No. 1 class since 2022, but this group has a real chance to finish there.
And if the Aggies actually sign all six five-stars, they’ll accomplish something no program has done during ESPN’s modern recruiting rankings era.
Allen’s commitment made an already terrifying defense even even more loaded.
