Texas A&M made a major impression on five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson as Mike Elko’s loaded 2027 recruiting class keeps gaining steam.
Texas A&M football is already sitting on a monster 2027 recruiting class, and Mike Elko may not be done swinging for defensive stars.
The Aggies hosted two major five-star targets last weekend in cornerback Joshua Dobson and linebacker Kaden Henderson, giving College Station another chance to flex what has become one of the hottest recruiting pushes in the country.
Dobson remains strongly linked to Texas A&M, while Henderson may be the more dramatic battle to watch as Notre Dame and Miami try to keep pressure on the Aggies.
But right now, Texas A&M looks very real in this one.
Henderson, a five-star linebacker from Florida, has been heavily pursued because he fits the modern defensive mold. He’s not just a downhill tackler.
He’s the kind of versatile linebacker coaches want in today’s game — fast enough to cover, physical enough to fit the run and smart enough to handle the chaos between the hashes.
That’s exactly why this recruitment matters so much for Elko.
Texas A&M has landed elite talent across its 2027 class, including five five-star commits, but linebacker has been a position where the Aggies have needed a true blue-chip win.
The Anthony Hill miss still lingers in the background, with the former five-star flipping to Texas and becoming a star for the Longhorns.
Taurean York developed into a strong player despite being an underrated three-star, but landing a national-level linebacker like Henderson would send a different kind of message.
It would say Elko’s defensive vision is pulling in the exact players it needs.
Henderson came away impressed after his official visit, especially with the talent already forming around the Aggies’ 2027 class.
“I had a great time,” Henderson told Rivals. “Just the class they have being surrounded by the best guys in the nation. Also a school the priorities their defense and take pride in it.”
That quote should make Texas A&M fans feel good. It hits the two things Elko is selling hard: elite peers and a defense-first identity.
Henderson also has a growing relationship with Dobson, which could matter as both players navigate the final stretch of their recruitments.
If Texas A&M can land both, the Aggies wouldn’t just be adding stars. They’d be adding defensive tone-setters.
Notre Dame still gets its shot, and Miami remains the hometown threat. Nobody should call this over.

But the momentum around Texas A&M is getting louder.
And if Henderson joins the class, Elko’s 2027 defensive haul could start looking downright nasty.
