Texas A&M recruiting is taking a close look at 2027 quarterback Terrance Lewis Jr., a dynamic dual-threat prospect visiting College Station during spring practice.

Texas A&M recruiting is already packed with star power in the 2027 class, but one of the more intriguing names tied to the Aggies this weekend wasn’t a household prospect.

While Mike Elko continues building a class loaded with blue-chip talent, Texas A&M also appears focused on finding the kind of under-the-radar player who can eventually outperform his ranking.

That’s where Florida quarterback Terrance Lewis Jr. enters the picture.

The Vanguard High School standout made his way to College Station during the opening weekend of spring practice, giving the Aggies a closer look at one of the more productive dual-threat quarterbacks in the class.

Lewis may not carry the same recruiting buzz as some of the nation’s headliners, but his numbers say he deserves attention.

He put together a strong season in Florida, throwing for 1,334 yards with 17 touchdown passes and only one interception. He also did major damage on the ground, rushing for 898 yards and 10 touchdowns while averaging 9.3 yards per carry.

That skill set should sound familiar in College Station.

Marcel Reed arrived at Texas A&M with plenty of promise but without the kind of hype that follows five-star quarterbacks.

Now he’s a major part of the Aggies’ future. Lewis fits a similar mold as an athlete who can extend plays, punish defenses with his legs, and still make smart decisions with the football.

Texas A&M already has four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson committed in the 2027 class, so Lewis may not be the obvious headliner at the position.

Still, the Aggies clearly see value in bringing him to campus and evaluating what he could become.

And that’s often where smart recruiting classes separate themselves.

Texas A&M’s 2027 group already includes names like Kamarui Dorsey and Raylaun Henry, but classes aren’t built only on stars.

Sometimes they’re elevated by finding the player everyone else overlooked. Lewis could become that type of bet for Elko and his staff if his rise continues through his senior year.
