Caden Sorrell drove in six runs and Clayton Freshcorn slammed the door as Texas A&M beat Mississippi State 11-9 to force Game 3.
No. 10 Texas A&M baseball kept its weekend alive Friday night, and it took just about everything the Aggies had to hold off No. 13 Mississippi State in an 11-9 SEC slugfest.
After Thursday’s 18-11 loss, Texas A&M needed a response. Caden Sorrell delivered one immediately.

The junior outfielder powered the Aggies’ offense with a huge night, finishing a single short of the cycle while driving in six runs. His early home run helped Texas A&M grab control, but nothing came easy against a Mississippi State lineup that kept swinging back.
The Bulldogs hit four home runs and erased an early deficit, taking a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the third. That’s when Blake Binderup changed the game.
Filling a bigger role since Nico Partida’s hamstring injury, Binderup launched his ninth homer of the season, a three-run shot that put Texas A&M ahead for good.
Still, the Aggies’ pitching made the finish uncomfortable. Weston Moss struggled in his start, and Shane Sdao gave up five runs across four innings.
With the game tightening, Texas A&M turned to Clayton Freshcorn, and the closer looked every bit like one of the SEC’s best.
Freshcorn threw 52 pitches over three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out five. The performance earned him his SEC-leading 12th save and preserved a win Texas A&M absolutely had to have.
The Aggies still have real questions on the mound entering the series finale. Aiden Sims won’t pitch this weekend because of arm tightness, and Sdao’s 71-pitch outing likely limits his availability.

Coach Michael Earley said every pitcher could be available, while Freshcorn also said he’d be ready if needed.
Texas A&M and Mississippi State will decide the series Saturday at 11 a.m. on SEC Network.
