Texas A&M and Texas called off Sunday’s baseball series finale after repeated rain and lightning delays, leaving the Aggies with a key SEC series win.

Rain and lightning had the final say in Bryan-College Station on Sunday, forcing Texas A&M baseball and Texas baseball to scrap the final game of their weekend showdown after hours of waiting and multiple delays.

The canceled matchup means the Aggies officially take the rivalry series after winning the first two games against the No. 2 Longhorns, a result that could carry real weight in the SEC baseball standings as the 2026 season rolls on.

Texas A&M outscored Texas 20-12 across the two completed games, continuing a strong weekend at the plate while also getting better-than-usual work on the mound.

For A&M, it’s more than just a weather-shortened rivalry win. The series victory gave Michael Earley’s club its first series win of the season against a ranked opponent, and it helped erase some of the sting from last year’s trip to Austin, when the Longhorns controlled the matchup.

This time, the Aggies were the sharper team at home, delivering timely offense and enough pitching to close the door twice.

The result also tightens the race near the top of the conference. Texas A&M now shares the same SEC record as Texas, but the Aggies come away holding the tiebreaker thanks to the two wins in College Station.

That gives A&M another meaningful boost as it tries to keep pace with No. 4 Georgia in the league race.

Instead of trying to squeeze in one more game, both programs were left to move on after the weather never fully cleared.

It’s not exactly a day off for the Aggies, but it does give them a little extra recovery time before their next game.

Texas A&M remains at home and will now turn its attention to Houston on Tuesday, April 14, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.

After this weekend, the Aggies head into that matchup with momentum, confidence and a rivalry series win that could matter well beyond April.
