Two Aggie sluggers, Mya Perez and KK Dement, secure D1 Softball preseason All-American nods, fueling championship aspirations for Texas A&M.

Texas A&M softball enters the 2026 season with momentum, expectations, and national recognition - and much of that buzz centers around two familiar names.

Junior slugger Mya Perez and sophomore standout KK Dement were named Preseason All-Americans by D1 Softball, reinforcing the Aggies’ status as one of the premier programs in the country.

Perez, a first-team selection, has already established herself as one of the most feared hitters in college softball. After delivering one of the most productive offensive seasons in Texas A&M history, she returns as the centerpiece of an Aggie lineup built to punish mistakes.

Her ability to drive the ball to all fields, combined with elite plate discipline, makes her a nightmare matchup for opposing pitchers. Few hitters in the country can blend power, consistency, and situational awareness the way Perez does.

Her production speaks for itself.

Perez was among the SEC’s most efficient hitters a season ago, excelling not just in nonconference play but against the league’s best arms. She was especially dangerous in high-pressure moments, producing against ranked opponents and carrying that form into postseason play.

Add in her academic accolades, and Perez represents the complete modern student-athlete - dominant between the lines and disciplined beyond them.

Dement, meanwhile, earned second-team preseason honors after a freshman season that felt anything but ordinary.

The California native arrived in College Station and immediately looked comfortable on the big stage, providing both gap power and game-changing home run ability.

Her combination of bat speed and confidence allowed her to thrive in critical moments, particularly in tournament settings where every swing carries weight.

What separates Dement is her postseason body of work.

When the competition tightened, her production soared. She consistently delivered extra-base hits and proved capable of flipping games with a single swing. Those moments didn’t just help Texas A&M win games; they shaped the identity of a team that went on to claim its first SEC Tournament title.

Together, Perez and Dement form one of the most dangerous middle-of-the-order duos in college softball. Their presence gives Texas A&M lineup depth, protection, and flexibility, forcing opponents to choose between pitching carefully or risking damage on every at-bat.

As the Texas A&M Aggies open the 2026 season at Davis Diamond, expectations are fuel.

With elite returning talent, proven postseason performers, and national recognition already in hand, the Aggies aren’t just chasing success. They’re defending a standard they’ve worked years to establish.
