Texas defeats Texas Tech 4-1 in Thursday's Game 2 to win the national championship.
Teagan Kavan struck out five of the last six batters in Thursday's Game 2 of the Women's College World Series finals to push the Texas Longhorns to a 4-1 win over Texas Tech.
The Longhorns have won their second straight national championship, and for the second year in a row, Kavan takes home Most Outstanding Player honors.
Kavan is the first player ever to achieve that in WCWS history.
This is the first rematch in the national championship series in WCWS history, since the tournament moved to a best-of-3 format. Last year, the Longhorns also won Game 1, but lost Game 2 by a run as Texas Tech forced a decisive third game.
No Game 3 necessary in 2026.

9:20 pm: Kavan goes groundout, strikeout, strikeout.

9:11 pm: Goode's single extends the lead to 4-1. Red Raiders down to their final three outs...
9:05 pm: Kayden Henry launches a home run to left field to lead off the seventh inning. Longhorns lead 3-1.
9:02 pm: The 2025 WCWS Most Outstanding Player, Teagan Kavan, enters the game at pitcher for Texas with the one-run lead. Back-to-back-to-back trikeouts for the All-American.
8:53 pm: Logan Halleman makes another miraculous catch in left field for Texas Tech. Horns can't add any insurance in the sixth.
8:44 pm: Teagan Kavan heads to the bullpen ... Gutierrez gets a strikeout, flyout, and groundout. Texas heads to the sixth, leading 2-1.
8:33 pm: Canady back in the circle to begin the fifth, but Texas gets two singles to lead off the inning. An infield tag by Taylor Pannell at third gets the lead runner for the first out. Logan Halleman makes a run-saving catch in left field for the second out. Intentional walk of Stewart to load the bases. Viviana Martinez scores two with a grounder that forces a throwing error by shortstop Hailey Toney. Texas leads 2-1.
8:20 pm: That was quick. Wells allows a single, walk, and HBP. Gutierrez is brought back in with the bases loaded and 2 outs. She forces Davis to line out to center. Texas gets out of danger, still trailing by just a run.
8:07 pm: Pitching change for Texas. Freshman utility Hannah Wells comes into the circle just after her second at-bat. Not a ton of pitching experience for Wells this season, but she's in to limit the Red Raiders' offense and give Gutierrez a breather.
7:55 pm: Red Raiders strike first. A hard-hit single to second base by Lauren Allred drives in Mihyia Davis, who reached base and stole second for the second time. Texas Tech leads 1-0 going to the fourth inning.
7:46 pm: Texas goes through the lineup for the first time with one hit - the Horns' first at-bat. Gutierrez goes out to face the top of the Tech order in the bottom of the third inning.
7:38 pm: A big moment for Gutierrez to get her second strikeout of the game and force Lagi Quiroga into a weak groundout to first. Texas escapes the inning after Tech got two base runners aboard.
7:28 pm: Longhorns go down in order to begin the second inning.
7:22 pm: End of the first inning. Tech's Mihyia Davis gets aboard with a hit-by-pitch, steals second base, but is left stranded as Jackie Lis lines out to center. We're scoreless with both teams stranding a runner at second after a steal.
7:15 pm: Texas strands Kayden Henry in scoring position after her leadoff single. Katie Stewart and Reese Atwood both had weak contact against NiJaree Canady in their first at-bats.
7:09 pm: The Longhorns are up to bat first. Texas Tech is the home team for Game 2. And we're off.
6:31 pm: Citlaly Gutierrez is named the starting pitcher for Texas. Kavan threw 115 pitches in Game 1 and now gets a rest from the circle.
6:30 pm (CST): First pitch is scheduled for just after 7 pm on ESPN.
