There have been a number of college transfers that have taken place, but one Texas move has caught the attention.
The Texas Longhorns' offense will be one of the most intriguing units to watch in 2026, mainly because of Arch Manning.
But there are also other weapons that will catch the eye.
Receiver Cam Coleman is the big-ticket item, but there also might be another weapon that could be in line for a serious season.
Hollywood Smothers, an NC State transfer, looks certain to lead the Longhorns' ground game in 2026.
Entering his fourth college season, Smothers could be ready to take his game to new heights as a Longhorn, as he will have the opportunities in the offense to truly showcase what he's capable of.
Coming off a good season with NC State, Smothers rushed for 939 yards and 6 TDs and averaged a crisp 5.9 yards per carry.
Currently slated to be the starter, CBS Sports' Tom Fornelli has high hopes for Hollywood with the Longhorns.
"It is just as fun to watch Hollywood Smothers as it is to say his name," Fornelli wrote. "He averaged nearly six yards per carry with State last season and is one of the more explosive backs in the country. He's also a threat in the passing game, as his 37 receptions were tied for fourth among Power Four running backs last season.
"I don't know if Smothers will put up monster numbers that grab the attention of All-America and awards voters come the end of the season because there are so many mouths to feed in this Texas offense, but he's another reason why the Longhorns will give opposing defensive coordinators heart palpitations."
According to college experts, Smothers is a home-run threat out of the backfield that also possesses impressive power, balance, and vision to be an elusive monster with the football in his hands.
How the Longhorns use him behind Manning is going to be a fascinating watch, and in truth, he could take some of the pressure off of Arch's shoulders by giving him a good ground game.
Not to mention the ability to help Manning's own ability to be as dynamic runner as well.
Of course, this is all a projection, but there's no doubt that Smothers could be one of the Longhorns' most dynamic weapons in 2026.
