Anthony Hill Jr. is already leaning into Tennessee Titans history after choosing No. 53, the number once worn by Keith Bulluck.

Anthony Hill Jr. didn’t get many rookie minicamp reps with the Tennessee Titans this weekend, but the former Texas Longhorns linebacker still found a way to make an early impression.

Hill, one of Tennessee’s eight draft picks, met with reporters and revealed the story behind his new Titans jersey number.

He’ll wear No. 53, a number that carries real weight in Nashville because of former Titans standout Keith Bulluck.

At first, Hill said the choice was mostly practical. There weren’t many numbers available. But once he looked into the history of No. 53, he quickly realized he’d inherited something bigger than just a jersey.

Bulluck was one of the defining defensive players in Titans history, a rangy, physical linebacker who became a fan favorite and a leader for Tennessee’s defense. Now Hill understands there’s a standard attached to the number.

That’s exactly the kind of mindset Titans fans should love. Hill isn’t running from the comparison. He’s welcoming the challenge while making it clear he wants to earn everything.

The next step is connecting with Bulluck himself. Hill said he hasn’t spoken with the former Titans great yet, but he wants to study his game, learn more about the tradition and understand what made Bulluck such an important figure in franchise history.

For Tennessee, that’s a promising sign. Hill arrived with a reputation for speed, instincts and physicality after starring at Texas, and the Titans are betting those traits can translate quickly under head coach Robert Saleh.

Rookie minicamp may have been lighter than expected for the draft class, but Hill’s message was strong. He knows No. 53 means something in Tennessee.

Now comes the hard part: proving he can make it mean something again.
