Texas freshman Anthony Pack Jr. earned SEC honors after an eight-hit weekend against South Carolina, boosting his average to .324 with 28 RBI.
Texas baseball freshman Anthony Pack Jr. is making a fast name for himself in the SEC, and his latest honor shows just how valuable he’s become for the Longhorns.
After a huge weekend against South Carolina, Pack was recognized by the conference on Monday, becoming the fifth Texas player to collect SEC honors this season.
The outfielder was all over the action in the series, reaching base in 10 of his 13 plate appearances and delivering three multi-hit games.
Anthony Pack Jr. also came through in the biggest moment of the weekend, ripping a two-run double on Saturday that helped Texas secure a 4-1 win and lock up the series over the Gamecocks.
That performance didn’t just help the Longhorns win; it also put Pack in rare company.
The freshman became only the third true freshman in Texas program history to record eight hits in a three-game series, joining a short list that includes Eric Kennedy and Jared Thomas.
For a player still in his first college season, that’s impressive territory.
Through 31 games, Pack has been one of the most productive hitters in the Texas lineup. He’s batting .324 with 28 RBI and has added major pressure on the bases, swiping 11 bags while being caught only once.
That combination of contact, speed and timely hitting has made him tough to keep out of the order.
Last week may have been his best stretch yet. Pack hit .563 and posted a 1.299 OPS, giving Texas a spark at the top of the lineup and helping fuel another conference series win.
In a league packed with elite talent, the Longhorns' freshman continues to stand out.
If Anthony Pack Jr. keeps swinging it like this, Texas baseball may have another breakout star leading the charge deep into SEC play.
