Texas women’s basketball loses former five-star guard Aaliyah Crump to the transfer portal after one season, adding to a pivotal offseason in Austin.
Texas women’s basketball is headed into a massive offseason, and Aaliyah Crump’s decision to enter the transfer portal only raises the stakes.
The former five-star recruit and 2025 McDonald’s All-American spent just one season in Austin, but her departure gives the Longhorns another major roster question to answer as they reshape the program for 2026-27.
Crump arrived at Texas as one of the biggest names in the 2025 recruiting class.
Ranked No. 5 nationally by ESPN, she brought proven scoring ability, perimeter touch, and national team pedigree after helping Team USA win gold at the 2023 FIBA U16 Women’s Americas Championship.
Even with that resume, her freshman year never fully got off the ground.
A foot injury sidelined Crump for the entire non-conference portion of the schedule and limited her overall rhythm during the season.
Still, when she was available, she flashed the talent that made her such a prized addition. The Minnetonka, Minnesota, native played in 24 games and averaged 7.9 points in 17.4 minutes per contest. She also shot 32 percent from 3-point range, showing the kind of floor-spacing value that can change an offense.
Now, Crump is expected to become one of the more intriguing names in the portal.
A young guard with five-star credentials, international experience, and clear scoring upside is going to draw national interest, especially from programs looking for perimeter punch.
Her exit also adds to a growing list of changes for Texas. Aaliyah Moore and Justice Carlton are also in the portal, while veteran guard Rori Harmon is nearing graduation.

That leaves Texas with multiple roster spots and major production to replace in a short window.
Crump’s next stop will be worth watching closely. If she stays healthy, she has the tools to break out in a big way next season.
