The Texas Longhorns are in need of receivers now that backup Aaron Butler, and starters DeAndre Moore and Parker Livingstone have transferred out of the program.
There is a battle brewing in the transfer portal as teams jockey for the best position to lure the No. 1 wide receiver prospect in the portal to their roster-Auburn WR Cam Coleman. Among all transfers, Coleman ranks as the No. 4 overall portal prospect.
USC is now reportedly out of the mix. We believe Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Texas are still in the mix here ... as Longhorns fans cross their fingers in hopes of being the Lone Star State winner here.
At 6-foot-3, 201 pounds, Coleman led the Tigers in receiving in 2025 with 56 catches for 708 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 12.64 yards per catch. In two seasons on The Plains, Coleman posted 93 catches for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns.
As a 5-star recruit in high school, Coleman gained over 1,900 receiving yards and scored 24 touchdowns during his prep career. He also played basketball in high school.
Coleman displays a lethal combination of size, speed and freakish athleticism to make plays in the open field. That would be the holy trinity of receiving if you line up Coleman with Ryan Wingo and potentially Kaliq Lockett next season. All three pass catchers stand over 6-foot-1 and can run.
In 2025, Wingo caught 54 passes for 834 yards and seven touchdowns. He averaged 15.44 yards per catch. Lockett caught five passes for 47 yards and a score. For his efforts, Wingo was named second-team All-Southeastern Conference.
Quarterback Arch Manning has to be a bit saddened now that his good friend and roommate Livingstone has signed up to play for Brent Venables and the rival Oklahoma Sooners. They will see each other again in Dallas next fall at the Red River Rivalry. But Coleman catching touchdown passes from Manning next season would take the sting out of that defection.
College football is a money game now, whether fans like it or not. Texas has the money and the resources to bring Coleman on campus to play for the Longhorns and he would thrive in coach Steve Sarkisian’s offensive scheme. Whatever he is asking in terms of compensation, there are supporters of the program who can stroke that check.
The Longhorns, and quarterback Arch Manning specifically, would enjoy the benefits that the talented Coleman would bring to the Forty Acres. The potential QB/WR duo of Manning and Coleman would be the top passing combination in college football next season.
