Former Texas offensive lineman Cole Hutson is getting a Dallas Cowboys mini-camp invite after playing 48 games for the Longhorns.
Former Texas Longhorns offensive lineman Cole Hutson is getting his NFL opportunity with one of football’s biggest brands.
The Dallas Cowboys have invited Hutson to mini-camp, giving the former Texas blocker a chance to compete for a roster spot after a steady college career in Austin.

For Longhorns fans, it’s another name to watch as Texas continues sending talent into NFL buildings.
Hutson appeared in 48 games for Texas and made 23 starts, giving him the kind of experience teams value when looking for offensive line depth.
He was part of a Longhorns unit that became one of the best groups in college football, earning recognition as a Joe Moore Award semifinalist before later becoming a finalist for the honor given to the nation’s top offensive line.
The Cowboys connection also gives Hutson a familiar face. Former Texas running back Jaydon Blue was selected by Dallas in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and the two already know what it’s like to work together in a high-level offense.
If Hutson can stick, he could eventually help protect Dak Prescott while also opening running lanes for Blue.
Nothing about making an NFL roster is easy, especially for a mini-camp invitee. Still, Hutson’s durability, starting experience and background in a physical SEC-ready Texas program should help him get a real look.
He’s also not the only former Longhorn fighting for a professional foothold. Mason Shipley, Matthew Caldwell, Travis Shaw, Jack Bouwmeester, Ethan Burke and Jaylon Guilbeau are among the Texas products trying to carve out roles.
For Hutson, the next step is simple: show Dallas he’s more than just a camp body. If he does, the former Longhorn could turn a tryout into a longer NFL opportunity.
