College football teams across the country have switched their mindset to the upcoming spring practices in early preparation for another football season.
Some teams have benefitted from huge portal classes, while others have recruited just enough talent to stop the bleeding from the mass exodus of players. Others welcome back returning talent at key positions and also raided the portal for more talent. The Texas Longhorns are one such team.
Four members of the Longhorns football squad distinguished themselves last season with postseason accolades: offensive tackle Trevor Goosby, edge Colin Simmons, linebacker Rasheem Biles and return specialist Ryan Niblett were all-conference performers at their positions last season.
In a story by Chris Low of On3.com, these four talented Texas players have earned inclusion on his way-too-early 2026 All-America team.
Goosby is a talented offensive lineman and elite bodyguard for quarterback Arch Manning. As a first-team All-SEC selection, Goosby earned an overall grade of 83.7 from Pro Football Focus (PFF). He excels in run blocking and earned a grade of 82.8 in that category. Also, Goosby allowed just three sacks last season.
In his second season with the Longhorns, Simmons spent a lot of time camped out in opponents’ backfield. He logged 43 tackles, 12 sacks and 15 quarterback pressures. Simmons was a first-team All-SEC selection, and earned second-team Walter Camp All-American honors.
The transfer from Pitt, Biles led the Panthers with 101 tackles, along with 17 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He also posted two interceptions, returned a fumble for a score, forced two fumbles and logged four pass breakups. For his efforts, Biles was named second-team All-ACC. He will be a beast in Will Muschamp’s defense.
Niblett was a dagger to the heart of teams like Oklahoma in the return game. Against the Sooners, Niblett retuned a punt 75 yards for a score that put the game out of reach. He averaged 22 yards per punt and 20 yards per kickoff return on his way to being named second-team All-SEC.
For Texas fans, it is a brutal eight months before the 2026 season begins on Sep. 5 against Texas State. For now, fans will have to settle for the spring practices coming up in a couple of months. The four Longhorns stars listed above are chomping at the bit to get back on the football field and show they deserve a seat on the preseason hype train.
