Manning faces immense pressure: top draft pick, Heisman contender, and national title hope. Can this third-generation QB rewrite his own legacy?
On the one hand, all of this is exactly what Arch Manning signed up for. ... or maybe was even "born to do.''
The 2026 NFL Draft is behind us, but gurus have wasted no time in issuing predictions for the 2027 Draft ...
Which they think will feature Manning.
And the upcoming Heisman race ...
Which they think will feature Manning.
Oh, and a legit Texas Longhorns shot at a national title ...
Which they think will feature Manning.
We say "it’s never too early to look ahead,'' but ... maybe it is? Just a little bit?
Expectations are high in Austin, and there is nothing wrong with that.
And hey, maybe the kid wouldn't want it any other way. "Pressure is a privlege,'' and all of that.
But ... this is a lot.

According to current betting odds, Manning has emerged as the early favorite to be selected No. 1 overall in the 2027 NFL Draft. It’s a notable projection this far out, but one that reflects both his potential and the growing belief in his development at Texas.
Manning’s rise has been closely watched since he arrived on campus. While his last name immediately drew national attention, his progression within the Longhorns’ system has been what’s kept him firmly in the spotlight.
After redshirting his freshman season, Manning was behind one of the best quarterbacks in college football in Quinn Ewers his second year. But in his third season, he really broke out and performed as so many always assumed he would.
The third-generation quarterback - grandson of Archie and nephew of Peyton and Eli, NFL superstars all - racked up 3,163 yards and 26 touchdowns to just seven interceptions in his sophomore season. Not only that, but he was also able to get it done with his legs with just under 400 yards and 10 scores on the ground.
Of course, it’s impossible to discuss Arch without acknowledging the family legacy; expectations have always been part of the equation. But what’s becoming clearer with each performance is that Arch is building his own path - one that could ultimately lead him to the top of the draft board.
Early betting odds often lean heavily toward quarterbacks, and this case is no different. The position’s value at the next level makes it a natural focal point for projections, and Manning sits atop a group of highly regarded prospects. Still, being labeled the favorite years in advance speaks to a broader confidence in his trajectory, not just hype.
That goes for the 2027 NFL Draft. It goes for the Heisman race. And it goes for the Longhorns' title hopes.
That's major pressure ... times three.
