The Longhorns will host the Sooners at the Cotton Bowl in what is looming as a danger game for Sarkisian's side.
The latest installment of the Red River Rivalry between the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners will take place on Saturday at the Cotton Bowl.
With Steve Sarkisian's Longhorns at 4-0, but yet to fully hit their stride, this looms as a fascinating matchup that will pit two good defenses against each other.
The Longhorns, through the first four weeks, average a crisp 33 points per game with Arch Manning at the helm, and defensively, they only allow 13.2 points per game.
So that has Texas in good stead.
But the Sooners are no slouches either.
Offensively, with John Mateer, the Sooners average 22 points per game, which isn't great, but it's not bad either, and defensively, they give up just 16 points per game.
So while they might be 2-2, this Oklahoma defense has all the tools to make life tough for Arch and the offense, something that we have seen teams do to them regularly this season.
While the Longhorns have owned Oklahoma in the last two outings, Sarkisian stated that in a game like this, you can throw the form book out the window, and we tend to agree.
We know what the Longhorns are capable of, it's just that they have yet to show it consistently through the first four games.
Sometimes it all comes together like against Ohio State; other times it is a dogfight like it was against UTSA.
So, what Longhorns team will we get against the Sooners, and get the offense to look smooth and put up points regularly against a stout defense?
Conversely, can the defense, led by Colin Simmons, get after Mateer, who has four interceptions in four games this season? That will be key.
Can the Longhorns continue their undefeated start to the season, and make a statement against the Sooners?
That will be the hope.
