Texas might be 4-0, but it has hardly been a consistent outfit in the opening month of the season.
The Texas Longhorns will face the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday at the Cotton Bowl, but Steve Sarkisian's team isn't exactly firing on all cylinders.
Yes, their record says they are 4-0, but if we are being honest, the Longhorns, at least right now, don't have the look of an undefeated team.
They have shown superb moments in the opening month, with the comeback against Ohio State the one we all gravitate to.
But there have been stretches where it is really tough to watch, the offense has struggled, or the defense can't get off the field, and we still haven't seen Texas put it all together for four quarters.
Consistency is what we all want, and for Sarkisian, he knows what his team is capable of, but he's only seen it fleetingly.
He wants his team to become more consistent, starting with Oklahoma on Saturday.
"I feel like we've had moments where we needed to be at our best and we've responded at our best," Sarkisian said. "So I think being at our best when our best has been required, is a great trait that we've shown. But to me, I see flashes of who we want to be, but my biggest critique of it all is the consistency of it all.
"We have got to be a more consistent football team in general in all three phases, and I think we can be. There's room for improvement even on the defensive side of the ball, and so that's what we're pushing for. That's what we're striving for in all three phases."
So, the Longhorns know the plan of attack, and you can make a case that the defense has outperformed the offense this season.
With Arch Manning, Cam Coleman, Hollywood Smothers, and Ryan Wingo, the Longhorns have some serious talent on offense, but we have yet to see it all fire at the same time.
The 4-0 record is nothing to sneeze at, and you can point to Texas continuing to win despite not playing consistently as a big tick.
But for Sark, he wants the gap between his team's best and worst games to close dramatically.
Well, we finally see a consistent performance on Saturday in the Red River Rivalry?
Fans sure hope so.
