Texas football could have two massive breakout stars in 2026 as Cam Coleman and Trevor Goosby emerge as key pieces around Arch Manning.
Texas football may already have its next pair of national breakout stars, and both could play a huge role in the Longhorns’ 2026 championship push.
On3.com noted a couple of Longhorns who are tabbed as "breakout players" for 2026. Wide receiver Cam Coleman and offensive tackle Trevor Goosby are drawing major attention heading into the season, with Coleman especially generating buzz after transferring in from Auburn.
Coleman arrives in Austin with real production already on his resume, but there’s still a sense that his biggest leap is coming.
The former Auburn playmaker posted 93 catches for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns across two seasons, including 56 receptions for 708 yards and five scores in 2025.
Even with those numbers, he hasn’t fully crossed into nationwide star status yet.
That could change quickly in Steve Sarkisian’s offense with Arch Manning throwing him the football.
One evaluator believes Coleman is set up for a huge rise. “He’s a semi-established player, but was certainly hurt by inconsistent quarterback play while he was a Tiger,” Ari Wasserman wrote. “He has the potential to go to the moon in the fall.”
That’s the kind of upside that should get Texas fans excited. Coleman has long looked like an NFL-caliber talent, and now he steps into an offense built to highlight explosive receivers.
If he clicks early with Manning, he could become one of the most talked-about players in college football.
Goosby might not bring the same flash, but he could be just as important.
The 6-7, 312-pound tackle quietly became one of Texas’ more dependable offensive linemen, even during a 2025 season when the front struggled at times.
That development matters because protecting Manning will be one of the biggest factors in whether Texas can win a national title.
Wasserman pointed to that importance directly, writing, “Having a stud tackle will be make-or-break for the Longhorns in 2026. Goosby could be that guy.”
Texas has plenty of star power, but championship teams need more than headline names.
If Coleman becomes a true No. 1 target and Goosby locks down the edge, the Longhorns may have exactly the kind of breakout duo needed to make a serious run at it all.
