Texas football recruiting is already heating up for the 2027 recruiting cycle, and the Longhorns have their sights set on one of the top defensive prospects in the Lone Star State.
Four-star EDGE rusher Brayden Booth, a San Antonio standout, recently picked up an offer from Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns, instantly making him a name to watch for the future of the program.
Booth has emerged as one of the most intriguing defensive players in the 2027 class, and Texas appears eager to add him to a recruiting class that is already gaining momentum.
According to 247Sports rankings, Booth currently sits as the No. 19 EDGE prospect nationally for the 2027 cycle. He’s also ranked No. 33 among Texas players and checks in as the No. 211 overall player in the country in his class.
With two more seasons of high school development ahead, recruiting analysts believe Booth’s stock could climb even higher.
Texas, however, will have to battle a growing list of programs trying to land the rising defensive talent.
Booth already holds scholarship offers from Baylor, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, TCU, SMU, and Texas Tech, and that list is expected to expand as more scouts evaluate his upside.
The San Antonio product first began drawing attention during his sophomore season. In just seven games, Booth recorded 35 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, and one sack, flashing the athleticism and explosiveness that college coaches covet in modern edge rushers.
For Texas, adding Booth would strengthen a recruiting class that is already shaping up nicely.
The Longhorns have secured six commitments for 2027, including four-star wide receiver Easton Royal and four-star EDGE Cameron Hall, both of whom project as future playmakers in Austin.
If Sarkisian and his staff can win the recruiting battle for Booth, the Longhorns would add another promising defender to a class designed to keep Texas competing for championships well into the future.
