Texas freshman Anthony Pack Jr. exploded onto the SEC scene, earning Freshman of the Year after a monster debut season.
Anthony Pack Jr. didn’t ease into SEC baseball. He kicked the door open.
The Texas Longhorns freshman outfielder was named SEC Freshman of the Year after a ridiculous debut season that turned him into one of the biggest breakout stars in college baseball.

In his first year in burnt orange, Pack hit .360 across 52 games and gave Texas exactly the kind of spark every championship-level lineup needs.
And this wasn’t empty average stuff, either. Pack drove the ball with authority, piling up 23 extra-base hits, including seven home runs.
He also brought chaos on the bases, stealing 20 bags — the most by a Texas freshman since Drew Stubbs swiped 28 in 2004.
That’s a serious historical marker.
Pack was even more dangerous in SEC play, becoming the first freshman since Mississippi State’s Jake Mangum in 2016 to hit .400 in league games.
For a first-year player to do that in the SEC, where every weekend feels like a future MLB showcase, is outrageous.
He also finished tied for third in the conference in walks and ranked sixth in OPS, showing he wasn’t just swinging hot. He was controlling the zone, reaching base and punishing mistakes.
Texas had more to celebrate, too. Fellow outfielder Aiden Robbins was named SEC Newcomer of the Year, giving the Longhorns a nasty one-two punch in the outfield and at the plate.
Together, Pack and Robbins helped define a season loaded with energy, athleticism and big moments.
For Pack, the bar now jumps. That’s what happens when you become one of the SEC’s best players before your sophomore year even starts.

But nothing about his freshman season looked fluky. Pack has bat speed, discipline, pop and game-changing speed. Texas didn’t just find a freshman contributor.
The Longhorns found a star.
