Texas football gets a major visit from 2028 defensive line target Kellan Hall, one of the top young defenders in the nation.
Texas Longhorns recruiting is already digging deep into the 2028 class, and one of the biggest names on Steve Sarkisian’s board is headed to Austin. Kellan Hall, a rising defensive line monster from Louisville, Kentucky, is scheduled to visit Texas on May 31.
That’s not just another unofficial visit. That’s a chance for the Longhorns to make a loud early statement in a national battle that’s already getting crowded.
Hall is one of the most coveted young defenders in the country. According to 247Sports, he’s ranked as the No. 3 defensive lineman in the 2028 class, the No. 1 player in Kentucky and the No. 25 overall prospect nationally. For a player still early in his high school career, that kind of attention usually means one thing: everyone wants in before the recruitment gets wild.
And it’s already getting there.
Texas is battling some of the sport’s biggest recruiting machines for Hall. Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia and Michigan have all offered. He has already checked out Tennessee, Texas A&M and Missouri, and more visits are expected as his recruitment heats up.
So why is Texas pushing this early?
Because Hall looks like the kind of defensive lineman who can fit in the SEC immediately once his college time arrives. He’s athletic, quick off the ball and disruptive against the run. He also has the versatility to move across multiple spots up front, which is exactly the kind of defensive chess piece elite programs chase.
Texas knows it can’t wait on players like this.
The Longhorns have built serious momentum under Sarkisian, but staying in the SEC title conversation means stacking defensive line talent every cycle. Hall would be a massive long-term win, especially as Texas tries to keep pace with Georgia, Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M in the trenches.
He isn’t the only 2028 target on the radar, either. Texas has already offered four-star prospects Ian Thomas, DeAndre Bidden, Braxton Rein, Austin Attalah, Kendrick Harris and Kameron McGee.
But Hall feels different.
He’s a national defensive priority, and May 31 gives Texas its first real chance to sell the vision up close. If Austin hits the right notes, the Longhorns could become a serious player in one of the biggest 2028 recruiting fights in the country.
