Texas forward Camden Heide is back in the transfer portal after one season in Austin, leaving the Longhorns after shooting 45.4 percent from 3-point range.

Texas basketball is losing another piece from its 2025-26 roster, as forward Camden Heide has entered the transfer portal following his lone season with the Longhorns.

For Sean Miller and Texas, it’s another offseason roster change. For Heide, it’s a fresh search for the right fit heading into the final year of his college career.

Heide gave Texas valuable minutes during his short stay in Austin. The veteran wing averaged 5.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game while making 29 starts.

He often found himself defending bigger matchups, a role that didn’t always play to his strengths but showed his willingness to do the dirty work for the team.

What made Heide especially useful was his perimeter shooting. Texas leaned on him as a floor spacer, and he responded with the best outside shooting season of his career.

Heide knocked down 45.4 percent of his 3-point attempts, a major jump from the 39.2 percent clip he posted the previous year.

That kind of shooting will make him an attractive option for programs looking to add an experienced wing who can stretch the floor immediately.

He also delivered one of the more memorable shots of Texas’ season. In the NCAA Tournament, Heide buried a huge 3-pointer against BYU that helped seal the Longhorns’ first-round win, giving him a lasting highlight in his brief time on the Forty Acres.

Now the Minnesota native is back on the move after previous stops at Purdue and Texas.

His profile is pretty clear at this stage: he’s an experienced rotation player, a reliable shooter and someone capable of stepping into the starting lineup when needed.

Texas, meanwhile, continues to reshape its roster. Heide joins Nic Codie and Simeon Wilcher among the Longhorns exiting through the portal, though the program is also set to bring in a highly regarded recruiting class.

As for Heide, he’ll be one of the more interesting veteran names to track, especially for teams hunting proven 3-point shooting late in the portal cycle.
