The Longhorns avoided a home sweep against their Red River rivals with a walk-off win in extra innings on Sunday.

The No. 4 Texas Longhorns avoided a series sweep at McCombs Field in Austin thanks to power hitter Katie Stewart, who launched a no-doubt home run to left field in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat the No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners 8-6 on Sunday afternoon.

The third game of the series saw the Longhorns (33-6) scoree three runs in the second inning off of a homer by leadoff hitter Kayden Henry. Texas would hit four more home runs: Leighann Goode's solo shot in the fifth, Stewart's first in the sixth, and Hanna Wells' game-tying blast in the eighth.

As soon as the ball left Stewart's bat with a runner on, the Texas first baseman spiked the aluminum on the turf as the celebration ensued.

It was the Longhorns' first walk-off win over the Sooners (40-4) since 2007.

Stewart's domination at the plate has been one of the storylines of the Longhorns' season as they try to defend their first national championship in program history from 2025. The junior from Frankfort, Illinois is hitting a team-best .490 with 51 hits, 22 home runs, 51 runs batted in and a ridiculous slugging percentage of 1.163.

Back in Game 1, the Horns followed up last week's disappointing series with Alabama with a 3-0 shutout loss. Teagan Kavan recorded a season-high 13 strikeouts and reached 500 for her career, but the Sooners' two runs in the top of the first proved costly as Texas couldn't string together enough offense.

In the second game of the series, Texas' losing streak stretched to four as Oklahoma, once again, relied on the long ball. The Sooners have hit the most homers in the country by a wide margin, and the 3-run bomb from OU's Kendall Wells flipped the game on its head from a 2-1 Texas lead to a 4-2 visitor edge.

Texas not sits sixth in the SEC standings with a 10-5 conference record. This brutal back-to-back stretch - against two top-5 foes and the top two teams in the league - was not kind to the former No. 1 team in the country.

Looking ahead, the Longhorns will travel to Athens to play the Georgia Bulldogs April 18-20. After a standalone game at home with Oklahoma State on April 22, Texas will be back on the road to face Kentucky in Lexington April 24-26.
