Texas hosted five-star 2027 wide receiver Monshun Sales as Steve Sarkisian looks to add another explosive weapon to a loaded class.
Texas football is turning up the heat on the 2027 recruiting trail, and elite wide receiver Monshun Sales is the latest big-name target to get the full Forty Acres treatment.
Sales, a dynamic playmaker from Indianapolis, visited Texas on Friday as Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns continue building what already looks like one of the most dangerous 2027 classes in the country.
Texas has momentum, star power and a clear offensive pitch. Now the Longhorns are trying to convince one of the nation’s most explosive receivers that Austin is where his future belongs.
And make no mistake, Sales is not just another visitor.
The Lawrence North standout is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 13 overall player in the 2027 class, the No. 1 wide receiver in the country and the top player in Indiana.
That kind of resume gets everybody’s attention, and it has. Sales has already collected offers from Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Indiana and others.
That’s a heavyweight recruiting fight, exactly the kind Texas expects to be in under Sarkisian.
Sales showed why so many major programs are chasing him during the 2025 season. He caught 37 passes for 794 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging a ridiculous 21.5 yards per reception.
Every time Sales touches the ball, there’s a chance the scoreboard changes.
For Texas, the appeal is obvious. Sarkisian’s offense is built to create space, isolate mismatches and let explosive athletes punish defenses.
A receiver like Sales fits that blueprint perfectly. He can stretch the field, attack after the catch and give the Longhorns another home-run threat in a passing game that has become one of the program’s biggest recruiting weapons.
The visit also comes at a key moment for Texas’ 2027 class. The Longhorns already hold commitments from five-star prospects John Meredith III and Easton Royal, giving Sarkisian a strong foundation.
The group is currently ranked sixth nationally, but adding Sales would send a much louder message.
It would say Texas isn’t just trying to stay in the top 10. It’s coming after the top spot.
There’s still plenty of competition, and Sales’ recruitment probably isn’t slowing down anytime soon. When a player is ranked this high, every national power keeps swinging.
But getting him on campus matters. Texas had its chance to show him the offense, the culture, the city and the vision.
Now the Longhorns wait to see if that visit made the kind of impression that can turn an elite target into a future star in Burnt Orange.
