Texas adds late-rising EDGE Brinley Tita to its 2026 recruiting class after the Humble Summer Creek standout turned a quiet path into a major opportunity.
Texas football added an unexpected name to its 2026 recruiting class, and Brinley Tita’s story is the kind that grabs attention fast.
The new Texas pledge didn’t arrive with the typical recruiting buzz, but the Longhorns clearly believe they found a developmental EDGE prospect with real upside.
Tita, a Humble Summer Creek product, took an unusual road to Texas. In high school, he lined up at defensive tackle, even though his frame and movement suggest his long-term future is likely on the edge.
At 6-2 and 225 pounds, he was used inside partly because his team needed him there. That may have limited how some major programs viewed him during the recruiting process.
Even so, the production was impossible to ignore. Tita finished his senior season with 86 tackles and 11 sacks, earned 6A All-State Honorable Mention honors on the defensive line, and had already been named District Defensive Player of the Year in 2023.
He also showed off his athleticism in track and field by winning district in the shot put with a throw of 51 feet, 0 inches.
Before Texas entered the picture, Tita appeared headed for Cisco Junior College, planning to keep developing and work his way toward a Division I offer later. Instead, the opportunity came much sooner than expected.
The Longhorns’ staff, including EDGE coach LaAllan Clark, identified him as a player worth taking a chance on, especially as Texas looked to add one more pass-rush piece to the 2026 class.
Tita didn’t need much time to make his choice. “Man, once I got the offer, it felt amazing,” Tita told Inside Texas. “I knew it was a done deal as soon as I got that offer from Coach Clark. You do not turn down an opportunity like this, the biggest stage to go prove yourself at the best university.”
For Texas, it’s a late addition. For Tita, it’s a life-changing one.
