Texas football added 2027 guard Keyon Hemphill-Woods from Columbus, a 6-3, 275-pound lineman who picked the Longhorns over Texas A&M and Auburn.

Texas football recruiting picked up another important win with 2027 offensive guard Keyon Hemphill-Woods announcing his commitment to the Longhorns.

The Columbus, Texas, standout gives Texas a powerful in-state addition early in the 2027 cycle, choosing UT over Texas A&M, Texas Tech, TCU, and Auburn.

Hemphill-Woods, listed at 6-3 and 275 pounds, has become one of the more talked-about interior offensive linemen in the state after a busy spring that included multiple visits to Austin.

That steady relationship with the Texas staff clearly mattered.

“I chose Texas because there’s no other place like it, Hmephill-Woods said via Horns247. "The coaches there are the best you can ask for. I have been wanting to go to Texas since I was a kid so when I was blessed to have an opportunity to play there I was super grateful. I didn’t want to wait any longer.”

Texas appears to have sealed the decision with a late surge. Hemphill-Woods had planned more trips, but once he knew, he shut the process down.

He told OrangeBloods, “They’re just different. I knew I wanted to be there. The school is awesome. The coaches are great. The locker room also, when I got in meetings, it just felt normal for me. I locked everything down. I’m locked in. I cancelled all my other visits. I even told coach (Flood), if I’m committed, I’m committed 100 percent.”

The recruiting rankings back up the excitement. 247Sports lists Hemphill-Woods as the No. 24 interior offensive line prospect in the 2027 class, while Rivals/On3 ranks him No. 30 at the position.

On the field, he helped Columbus win the Texas 3A Division I state title as a sophomore and return for another strong playoff push in 2025. He also brings notable football pedigree, with cousin LaAdrian Waddle enjoying a seven-year NFL career and earning two Super Bowl rings.
