Texas added a major 2027 recruiting piece as Arizona running back Noah Roberts committed over Oregon and Arizona State.
Texas football just landed a major building block for its 2027 recruiting class.
Noah Roberts, one of the nation’s top running backs in the 2027 cycle, has committed to the Longhorns. The Chandler, Arizona standout chose Texas over Oregon and Arizona State, giving Steve Sarkisian another high-upside offensive weapon.
Roberts is listed at 6-1 and 190 pounds and is considered a consensus top-20 running back nationally. His commitment is also a strong early win for new Texas running backs coach Jabbar Juluke, who played a key role in getting Roberts to Austin.
The appeal is easy to see.
Roberts broke out as a sophomore at Basha High School, rushing for more than 1,000 yards and establishing himself as a national recruit.
As a junior, he showed he’s more than just a runner, finishing with 761 rushing yards, eight rushing touchdowns, 50 catches, 562 receiving yards and six receiving scores.
Texas values backs who can run between the tackles, create explosive plays and stay on the field in the passing game. Roberts checks all three boxes.
He also averaged 6.6 yards per carry as a junior, showing the burst and efficiency that made him a priority target for several Power Four programs.

For Texas, this commitment gives the 2027 class a strong foundation at running back. It also gives Sarkisian and Juluke flexibility to keep chasing elite talent while already having a proven blue-chip option secured.
Roberts may not be the last major back Texas targets in the class, but he’s a big first piece. And with his size, production and receiving ability, he looks like a natural fit for where the Longhorns’ offense is headed.
