Texas already has one of the top wide receiving corps in the country, and it's looking to remain dominant at the position in the future.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has highlighted Miami commit Ah'Mari Stevens as his next WR target.
The 5-11, 160-pound receiver from Chaminade-Madonna High School in Hollywood, Florida, is a consensus four-star recruit, ranking as a top-40 WR in the class of 2027.
Stevens is hard committed to the Hurricanes, according to 247 Sports, but that hasn't stopped him from scheduling visits to three top Southeastern Conference programs later this year.
That shows that Stevens is still exploring his options, which bodes well for the Longhorns.
As of now, the Miami commit is scheduled to visit LSU on April 18, the Hurricanes on May 29, the Bulldogs on June 5, and Texas on June 19.
Stevens didn't exactly light up the stat sheet this season, catching 23 passes for 312 yards receiving. However, the HS junior possesses talent and measurables that aren't reflected in the box score.
Stevens is a speedster, and speed translates to the next level, especially when you have a coach like Sarkisian who loves getting his receivers into open space.
Last year, he self-reported a 10.8 100-meter and a 4.39 40-yard dash, turning that real life acceleration in elite numbers.
The Longhorns will probably have a few WRs entering their names into the 2027 NFL Draft, which is why securing Stevens' signature will be a top priority.
Adding him alongside the likes of sophomore Kaliq Lockett and freshman Jermaine Bishop gives Texas a devastating wideout group for years to come.
But doing so will likely be an uphill climb for the Longhorns coaching and recruitment staff.
Being a Florida native, Stevens has had a bond with the Hurricanes since birth.
"I just been liking Miami since I was a little kid," Stevens told InsideTheU in 2025. "I always used to watch the football games with Miami when I was little, wear all the equipment since I was little. When I been growing up, watching Miami even more build and grow better here, I just felt like that was something I wanted to be a part of."
But not all hope is lost for Texas.
Stevens has a connection to the Longhorns' five-star quarterback recruit, Dia Bell, from his time at American Heritage High School. Maybe he can sway his former target into a reunion on the 40 Acres.
It's also worth noting that Texas has experience flipping Florida recruits from Florida schools under Sarkisian.
The most recent high-profile example of that was when the Longhorns flipped safety Xavier Filsaime's commitment from Florida in late 2023.
Time has shown that when Sarkisian wants someone, he usually gets his way. Texas hopes the same will hold true for Stevens.
