The Longhorns have a lot of weapons on offense, but don't discount Arch Manning's protectors as elite either.

The Texas Longhorns are shaping up to be one of the teams to beat in 2026 as Steve Sarkisian's roster is loaded on both sides of the ball.

With Arch Manning the centerpiece of the Longhorns' chances in 2026, coupled with star receiver Cam Coleman and defensive studs Rasheem Biles and Colin Simmons, there isn't much to complain about if you are a Longhorns fan.

But with the offense set to be one of the best on college football, that is predicated on Arch getting the protection to make plays both with his arm, and his legs.

And it is here where star tackle Trevor Goosby comes into the equation.

Already seen as one of the best offensive linemen in football, Goosby has a chance to further enhance his draft stock with a stellar 2026 season protecting Arch.

And for PFF, which has ranked its top 50 college football players ahead of the new season, Goosby comes in at No. 21.

"Goosby saw extended action in 2024 as Kelvin Banks Jr.'s backup at left tackle before taking over as the starter in 2025," PFF wrote. "After a breakout redshirt sophomore campaign, he already looks like a legitimate top-10 prospect for the 2027 NFL Draft.

"Goosby and Carter Smith are the only returning FBS tackles to earn 80.0-plus PFF grades as both pass blockers and run blockers. He finished his redshirt sophomore season as the sixth-most valuable tackle in the FBS, according to PFF's Wins Above Average metric. At 6-foot-7 and 312 pounds, Goosby possesses rare movement skills that allow him to mirror even the nation's best speed rushers."

It isn't just PFF that has high hopes for Goosby in 2026; ESPN experts Jordan Reid and Matt Miller both have him among the top five tackles in football as well.

So, there is no denying that Manning will be protected by one of the best tackles, and one who loves doing the dirty work.

Whether or not that will translate to the Longhorns having a year to remember remains to be seen, but the list of potential Texas stars set to be first-round picks in the NFL Draft seems to be growing by the week.

And if Goosby plays up to PFF's ranking, he could be the first tackle taken off the board.
