Former Texas Tech infielder Linkin Garcia is headed to Austin, giving the Longhorns a dangerous young bat with star upside and real MLB Draft buzz.
Garcia didn’t waste time proving he belonged in the Big 12.
As a freshman at Texas Tech, he hit .338 across 55 games and drove in 59 runs.
He consistently delivered with runners on base and flashed gap power with 26 extra-base hits, including 21 doubles.
For Texas, this is a serious roster-building win.
Garcia arrives with three years of eligibility remaining, but there’s a catch ... he’ll be eligible for the 2027 MLB Draft.
And with early projections already putting him in first-round conversations, the Longhorns may be getting one highly motivated season from a player looking to explode on a bigger stage.
Coming out of high school, Garcia was already viewed as one of the better players in his class.
Perfect Game ranked him as the No. 34 shortstop and No. 90 overall prospect, and his freshman season backed up the hype quickly.
The fit makes plenty of sense.
Texas has been one of the country’s stronger programs over the last two seasons and has built a reputation for developing infielders.
That all matters for a player like Garcia, who has the tools to become one of the most-watched bats in college baseball next season.
