Texas left-hander Dylan Volantis is already turning heads early in the 2026 season.
The sophomore standout earned SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week honors after a commanding performance in No. 3 Texas’ 9-1 win over UC Davis at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Volantis shared the conference recognition with Oklahoma’s Cord Rager and Florida’s Cash Strayer, marking the third weekly league award of his young career.
In just his second career start, the 6-6, 220-pound southpaw delivered a career-long seven innings, allowing just one unearned run on a single hit.
Volantis was in complete control from the first pitch, retiring 14 of the first 16 batters he faced and carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning.
His command was as impressive as his velocity. Volantis threw 56 of his 78 pitches for strikes, attacking the zone and keeping UC Davis hitters off balance all afternoon.
He matched a career high with eight strikeouts and needed only 78 pitches to navigate through seven strong frames.
The outing showcased the poise and presence Texas coaches have been raving about since fall ball. Volantis faced the minimum through five innings and demonstrated an ability to work efficiently deep into the game - a promising sign for a Longhorn pitching staff looking to make another postseason run.
This latest accolade follows two SEC Freshman of the Week honors Volantis earned last season, further solidifying his reputation as one of the rising arms in the conference.
Texas continues its season-opening eight-game homestand Tuesday when Lamar visits Austin.
First pitch is set for 5 p.m., as Volantis and the Longhorns look to build momentum early in what’s shaping up to be another big year for Texas baseball.
