Durant defies time, cementing his place in NBA history with an unprecedented 16th All-Star selection, showcasing enduring elite skill and remarkable longevity.

Longevity in the NBA is hard.

Sustained greatness is even harder. Yet somehow, Kevin Durant continues to make the extraordinary feel routine.

The former Texas basketball star and current Houston Rockets forward was named a reserve for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, as selected by Western Conference head coaches.

With the honor, Durant earned his 16th All-Star appearance, moving him into fourth place on the NBA’s all-time list. Only LeBron James (22), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (19), and Kobe Bryant (18) have been selected more often.

It’s a milestone that underscores not just dominance, but durability. Durant first reached the All-Star stage at just 21 years old back in 2010, and more than a decade later, he’s still one of the league’s most feared scorers. Along the way, he’s twice taken home All-Star MVP honors, winning the award in 2012 and again in 2019.

This season, Durant has been everything Houston hoped for and more.

He leads the Rockets in scoring at 26.2 points per game while also contributing 5.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 36.8 minutes a night. His efficiency remains elite with 51.0 percent shooting from the field, 40.5 percent from beyond the arc, and 88.6 percent at the free-throw line.

In an era defined by volume shooting, Durant’s blend of precision and production continues to separate him from the pack.

Historically, his efficiency stands alone. Durant has now posted seven full seasons averaging at least 25 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.

No other player in NBA history has more than three seasons meeting that standard, and Durant has accomplished the feat in each of the past three years alone.

Durant is one of just four former Texas Longhorns to earn NBA All-Star honors, joining Slater Martin, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Jarrett Allen. For a program with deep basketball roots, Durant remains its brightest NBA torchbearer.

The 2026 NBA All-Star Game will be held Feb. 15, at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles and will debut a new U.S. vs. World format featuring two teams of American-born players and one international squad.

For Durant, it’s another stage, another spotlight, and another reminder that even after 16 All-Star selections, his game still belongs among the very best.
