The Longhorns use the transfer portal to pair proven pieces with returning Omaha experience.
The Texas Longhorns welcome seven transfers ahead of the 2026-27 academic year. Jim Schlossnagle's ball club also returns several key pieces to last year's College World Series roster, breeding confidence that Texas will, once again, be a tough out all season long in the spring.
According to Baseball America, the Horns possess the No. 10 transfer class in the country.
The other set of newcomers has also received elite recognition. Baseball America has Texas' class of 2026 freshmen as one of the top-ranked groups across college baseball.
Starting with the transfers, catcher Ian Armstrong replaces MLB-bound Carson Tinney after two seasons at Saint Mary's in which he hit a combined .356 with 21 homers and 91 runs batted in.
Several outlets ranked Armstrong as a top transfer portal target, and a top-30 prospect in the 2027 MLB Draft cycle, giving Texas a reliable piece behind the dish for its solid returning pitching staff.
Infielder Linkin Garcia was one of the best freshmen in the nation a season ago at Texas Tech. The Newport Beach, Calif., native posted 78 hits in 231 at-bats (.338) for the Red Raiders. He could see a position change in Austin, but his size and youth should establish him as a regular figure in Schlossnagle's lineup this year, and possibly the next.
Texas' third most significant portal addition is Kent State outfielder Sawyer Solitaria, who has upside as an offensive weapon to replace Aiden Robbins. Solitaria slugged .558 last year with 16 home runs and 47 RBIs.
Even after losing their top high school signees to MLB through the draft, Texas still brings in a loaded class of 16 players.
Right-hander Trey Rangel of The Colony (TX) is a top-100 player nationally and a top-10 player in the state.
James Jorgensen, another top DFW product, is expected to see two-way action as an athletic outfielder and right-handed pitcher.
Perhaps the most exciting recruit is infielder Easton Autrey, who blends natural power at the plate with a strong arm in the field.
"Our 2026 recruiting class is an outstanding group of student-athletes who embody the core values of our program - character, work ethic and passion for the game,” Schlossnagle said last year. "This class brings talent, versatility and leadership, and we’re confident they will make an impact on and off the field."
