Texas Tech men’s golf saved its best for last in Hawaii. Powered by a career-low round from junior Tim Wiedemeyer, the No. 16 Red Raiders surged into fourth place at the Amer Ari Invitational on Saturday, closing the 54-hole event at 57-under par against one of the strongest fields of the spring.
Wiedemeyer delivered a statement round on Mauna Lani’s North Course, firing a bogey-free 8-under 64 that featured eight birdies and zero mistakes.
It was the lowest round of his college career and the spark behind Texas Tech’s tournament-best final-round team score of 22-under 266. Only eventual champion Auburn posted a lower single-round total.
Texas Tech finished at 807 overall, just one shot behind Arizona State and three clear of Stanford. The closing push underscored the depth of the Red Raiders’ lineup, as all four counting scores came in under par.
Junior Adam Bresnu once again paced Texas Tech across the full tournament.
Bresnu closed with a 5-under 67 to finish tied for fifth individually at 17-under 199. The transfer from Odessa College has now posted three top-five finishes in five events this season, continuing his rapid rise in a Texas Tech golf shirt. His 54-hole score was just one shot off the best of his collegiate career.
Connor Graham matched Bresnu with a closing 67 of his own, while Ben Gregg added a steady 4-under 68.
Graham and Wiedemeyer both finished tied for 14th at 14-under 202, and Gregg tied for 24th at 12-under 204. All three recorded career-low 54-hole totals, a strong indicator of how well Texas Tech is trending as the season progresses.
The Red Raiders’ late charge vaulted them past several nationally ranked programs and reaffirmed their place among the elite teams in college golf. Consistency, scoring depth, and the ability to go low under pressure were all on display.
Texas Tech will look to build on that momentum when it returns to action Feb. 16 at The Prestige, hosted at PGA WEST’s Greg Norman Course in California’s Coachella Valley.
