Texas Tech Spring Football Schedule, Spring Game Date Set cover image

Texas Tech football opens spring practice March 10 and caps drills with a Friday Night Lights Spring Game on April 17 in Lubbock.

Texas Tech football is gearing up for an important offseason stretch, and the Red Raiders have officially mapped out their 2026 spring schedule.

Head coach Joey McGuire will open spring practices on March 10, kicking off several weeks of workouts that will culminate in a Friday Night Lights edition of the annual Spring Game on April 17 at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Moving the Spring Game to Friday night allows the university to prepare the stadium for a pair of George Strait concerts scheduled the following week.

The Red Raiders will stick to a traditional Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday practice format for most of the spring.

However, the first week will be abbreviated with sessions on March 10 and March 12 before the team pauses for Spring Break. Texas Tech resumes full activities on March 24, beginning four straight weeks of preparation.

While most practices will be closed to the public, members of the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Double T Varsity Club will have access.

The program’s annual Coaches Clinic, set for April 3-4, will also provide registered coaches a chance to observe practice and learn from McGuire and his staff.

The first major scrimmage of the spring is expected during that clinic weekend, with a second scrimmage scheduled for April 11.

The Spring Game on April 17 will serve as the final tune-up before the team shifts its focus to summer conditioning and fall camp.

McGuire enters the spring with renewed momentum after assembling one of the nation’s top transfer portal classes to complement returning veterans.

Competition across the roster is expected to be fierce as players battle for starting spots heading into the 2026 season.

For Red Raider fans, the Friday night Spring Game will provide an early glimpse at how Texas Tech plans to build on last year’s progress — and perhaps preview the next wave of impact playmakers in Lubbock.
