Big 12 Media Days arrive in Frisco with Brett Yormark, Joey McGuire, Texas Tech and Brendan Sorsby drama driving the conversation.

Big 12 Football Media Days are here, and Frisco is about to turn into the center of the college football universe for two loud, messy and revealing days.

This is where the offseason ends and the real countdown begins.

All 16 Big 12 football programs will roll through Texas this week with coaches, players and plenty of polished talking points. But let’s be real ... some questions won’t be easy to dodge.

The biggest spotlight starts at the top with Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark.

Yormark steps to the microphone at a wild moment for college athletics.

The Protect College Sports Act is hanging over the sport. The NCAA’s power is being questioned from every direction. Television money is shifting.

The NCAA Tournament could expand again. College Football Playoff expansion remains a monster topic.

And the Big 12 is still trying to carve out its place in a landscape where every league wants more power, more exposure and more postseason access.

That’s a lot for one commissioner to handle before anyone even asks about football.

Then there’s the Brendan Sorsby situation, which adds another layer of heat to the room.

The Texas Tech quarterback became one of the biggest offseason storylines in the conference, and even though the saga recently cooled down, the questions aren’t going away quietly.

That brings everything back to Joey McGuire.

The Texas Tech head coach may face the toughest media session of anyone in Frisco.

The Red Raiders are already one of the Big 12’s headline programs after winning the league last season, reaching the College Football Playoff and continuing to recruit like a program that believes it belongs on the national stage.

But success comes with a tax.

McGuire won’t just be asked about depth charts, quarterback play and preseason expectations.

He’ll likely have to answer for how Texas Tech handled the Sorsby drama, what it says about the future of college sports betting and whether programs are prepared for the new world surrounding player eligibility, NIL, gambling questions and public scrutiny.

That’s not a normal media days checklist. That’s a pressure test.

For Texas Tech, this week is about more than defending a Big 12 crown. It’s about controlling the narrative before the season starts. McGuire has built serious momentum in Lubbock, but Frisco will test how well he can protect it when the questions get uncomfortable.

Big 12 Media Days always bring optimism. This year, they’re bringing fireworks.
