Texas Tech slugger Logan Hughes enters the 2026 MLB Draft as a top-50 prospect after a monster season featuring 18 homers, 70 RBI and a .375 average.
Logan Hughes didn’t just improve his 2026 MLB Draft stock during his final season with Texas Tech baseball; he launched it into the seats like one of his home runs.
After producing one of the most complete offensive seasons in the country, Hughes enters draft weekend ranked No. 32 overall on Perfect Game’s final top-500 prospect board.
The former Red Raiders outfielder is also listed as the No. 10 player at his position and the No. 24 college prospect available.
That puts Hughes squarely in the conversation to hear his name called during Saturday’s opening four rounds.
The numbers explain why professional scouts are paying attention.
Hughes batted .375 with 18 home runs, 16 doubles, 70 RBI and 68 runs scored during a breakout 2026 season.
His .735 slugging percentage showcased the damage he could create, while a .510 on-base percentage proved he wasn’t simply selling out for power.
Perhaps the most impressive statistic was his plate discipline. Hughes drew 50 walks while striking out only 33 times, an uncommon combination for a player with that much extra-base power.
That ability to control the strike zone could make him especially attractive to clubs looking for a polished college bat capable of advancing quickly through the minor leagues.
Hughes’ road to this point didn’t begin in Lubbock. The DeLand, Florida, native started his college career at Stetson before transferring to Texas Tech ahead of the 2025 season.
He quickly became a central piece of the Red Raiders’ lineup and earned first-team All-Big 12 honors in each of his two seasons with the program.
His final campaign also brought national recognition. Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named him a second-team All-American, while Perfect Game and the American Baseball Coaches Association placed him on their third teams.
Hughes isn’t the only Texas Tech-connected player generating draft attention.
Red Raiders outfielder Caden Ferraro sits at No. 74 on Perfect Game’s board, while Texas Tech commit Rhyne Barker checks in at No. 229.
Their presence gives the program multiple names to watch across the weekend.
Rounds one through four of the MLB Draft will unfold Saturday, followed by rounds five through 20 on Sunday.
Hughes has already done everything possible to force his way into the early-round discussion. Now comes the payoff.
