Texas Tech commit Jalen Brewster, the No. 1 player in 2027, is taking a surprise Texas official visit as the Longhorns turn up the heat.
Texas Longhorns recruiting just threw a grenade into Texas Tech’s 2027 recruiting class. Jalen Brewster, the five-star defensive lineman committed to the Red Raiders, is taking a late official visit to Austin this weekend, giving Steve Sarkisian a huge chance to shake up Joey McGuire’s prized class.
This isn’t just another blue-chip visit.
Brewster is ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 1 defensive lineman and the No. 1 recruit in Texas.
When that kind of player starts looking around, everybody pays attention.
Brewster has been committed to Texas Tech for eight months, but the Longhorns clearly aren’t backing off.
That’s a massive development, especially because Brewster isn’t visiting Austin alone.
Four-star linebacker Jhadyn Nelson, another Texas Tech pledge, is also scheduled to be on campus.
So, yes, Texas is hosting two Red Raiders commits at the same time. Spicy enough for you?
Brewster already took an official visit to LSU, where Lane Kiffin is trying to make his own run.
Florida had also been circling, but Texas landed the weekend slot instead.
The Sooners are lurking, too.
Brewster has visited Oklahoma five times, while this trip marks his third visit to Texas. With 25 Division I offers as of June 4, his recruitment was never going to stay quiet.

Texas will also host a loaded group of blue-chip talent, including Longhorns commits Brock Williams, Cameron Williams, Noah Roberts and Derwin Fields.
For Texas Tech, this is the nightmare scenario. For Texas, it’s a shot at the biggest flip in America.
