Texas Tech has already sold out its Sept. 26 game against Sam Houston, proving Red Raiders hype is still roaring after a Big 12 title run.
Texas Tech football hasn’t even reached fall camp yet, and the Red Raiders already have a sellout on the board.
Texas Tech announced Thursday that its primary ticket inventory is gone for the Sept. 26 matchup against Sam Houston at Jones AT&T Stadium, giving the Red Raiders their first official sellout of the 2026 season more than two months before kickoff.
For a program coming off its first Big 12 championship, that kind of energy feels less like a spike and more like a new standard in Lubbock.
The Sam Houston game will close Texas Tech’s non-conference schedule, but it’ll be more than just another September date.
The matchup is also set as the Red Raiders’ annual Agriculture Game and falls during Parents Weekend.
Texas Tech will also use that weekend to honor its 2026 Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor class, which will be announced later this summer.
Jones AT&T Stadium won’t just be packed. It’ll be buzzing.
That’s become the expectation lately. During the 2025 season, Texas Tech posted sellout crowds of 60,229 fans in six of seven home games while marching to the Big 12 title.
The Red Raiders averaged 60,143 fans per home game, smashing the previous school record of 58,934 set in 2014.
And the ticket rush isn’t slowing down.
Texas Tech still has six home games with inventory available, including Abilene Christian on Sept. 5, Houston on Sept. 18, Arizona State on Oct. 17, Arizona on Oct. 31, West Virginia on Nov. 7 and a Thanksgiving Night showdown against TCU on Nov. 26.
Kickoff time and TV details for the Sam Houston game will be announced later by the Big 12’s television partners.
