Texas Tech softball adds a proven offensive weapon as former Louisiana Tech standout Bradi Gallaway heads home to bolster the Red Raiders.
Texas Tech softball just added another intriguing piece to its roster, and this one comes with plenty of upside.
The Red Raiders have secured a commitment from former Louisiana Tech infielder Bradi Gallaway, a versatile playmaker whose freshman campaign turned plenty of heads across Conference USA. Now, the Whitesboro native is heading back to Texas with an opportunity to make an immediate impact in Lubbock.
For a Texas Tech program looking to continue building momentum under head coach Gerry Glasco, Gallaway checks a lot of boxes.
The freshman standout appeared in all 56 games for Louisiana Tech and quickly established herself as one of the Bulldogs' most productive hitters.
She finished the season with a .317 batting average, collecting 53 hits while leading the team with 12 doubles. Her power numbers were equally impressive, launching 11 home runs while driving in 47 runs and piling up 98 total bases.
Perhaps even more encouraging was her approach at the plate. Gallaway paced the team with 28 walks, showcasing a mature offensive game that goes beyond raw power.
But her value isn't limited to offense.
Defensively, Gallaway posted a .965 fielding percentage across nearly 200 chances, demonstrating the reliability and athleticism that coaches covet.
Her ability to play multiple positions gives Texas Tech flexibility across the diamond, and her strong arm creates even more possibilities for how she can be utilized moving forward.
Glasco sees tremendous potential in the West Texas addition. The combination of athleticism, softball IQ, defensive versatility and emerging power makes Gallaway one of the more intriguing transfer additions of the offseason.
There's also a hometown element that makes this move feel like a natural fit.
Bringing a talented Texas player back home is always a win, especially when that player has already proven she can perform at the Division I level.
If Gallaway's freshman season was any indication, Texas Tech softball may have landed much more than a depth piece. The Red Raiders could be getting a future middle-of-the-order bat capable of changing games with one swing while providing value all over the field.
