Texas Tech football unveiled bold new red helmets for 2026, adding fresh style to a Red Raiders team coming off a 12-2 season and CFP appearance.
Texas Tech football is bringing a new look into 2026, and it matches the confidence surrounding Joey McGuire’s program.
The Red Raiders have unveiled new red helmets for the upcoming season, giving fans another sign that this team plans to carry real momentum into what could be a massive year in Lubbock.
The updated Texas Tech helmets feature an all-red shell with a black Double T logo outlined in white, a white stripe down the middle and a black facemask.
It’s a sharp twist on a look that stands out from the program’s more traditional black and white combinations, while still keeping the Red Raiders’ identity front and center.
The timing makes sense. Texas Tech football is coming off a landmark 2025 season in which the Red Raiders went 12-2, won the Big 12 championship and reached the College Football Playoff.
Even though the year ended with a loss to Oregon in the Orange Bowl quarterfinal, the program took a major step forward and now enters 2026 with rising national expectations.
McGuire’s team earned that attention on both sides of the ball. Texas Tech finished with a plus-25.2 scoring margin in conference play and posted one of the most dominant defensive seasons in recent memory.
The Red Raiders led the nation in yards allowed per play at 3.94, forced 32 takeaways and gave up only 68.1 rushing yards per game. They also averaged 16.6 pressures per game and recorded 142 defensive stops, another national best.
The offense wasn’t far behind. Texas Tech averaged 37.6 points and 462.7 total yards per game, while throwing for 296.7 yards per contest. Those numbers gave the Red Raiders one of the most complete profiles in the country.
Now they’ll try to build on all of it with a fresh helmet and even bigger goals. The look is new, but the message is clear: Texas Tech expects to stay in the spotlight.
