Texas Tech baseball returns to Rip Griffin Park Tuesday to face ACU after a sweep at TCU, with Adam Hayes set to start and the Red Raiders chasing a reset.
Texas Tech baseball is back in Lubbock on Tuesday night, and the timing couldn’t be better.
After a frustrating weekend sweep at TCU, the Red Raiders return to Rip Griffin Park looking to steady themselves against ACU in a 6:30 p.m. matchup.
Texas Tech enters the game at 16-11, while ACU arrives at 15-13. For a club that’s spent much of the past two weeks away from home, this stretch could be a chance to regain momentum before a packed weekend series against Houston.
The Red Raiders have played some of their best baseball at home this season, and that’s a big reason this game matters. Texas Tech is 13-3 in Lubbock and has already pushed past last year’s home run production total, scoring 196 runs at Rip Griffin Park after putting up 189 there all of last season.
The offense has been relentless at home, batting .397 and reaching double digits in runs 12 times in 16 games.
Now the focus shifts to how the team responds after letting a winnable series slip away in Fort Worth. Tech dropped three straight to TCU, including a pair of one-run losses, and stranded 32 runners across the series.
Just as notable, the Red Raiders were held under six runs for the first time in 24 games, a rare slowdown for one of the country’s most dangerous lineups.
Tim Tadlock will hand the ball to right-hander Adam Hayes, who’s coming off the best outing of his college career.
Hayes worked five scoreless innings against New Mexico last week to earn his first win and now gets another shot to build on that momentum.
Texas Tech has also dominated this recent series with ACU, winning seven straight since 2022. With Logan Hughes, Connor Shouse and a nationally respected infield leading the way, Tuesday feels like more than a midweek game. It feels like a reset.
