Texas Tech baseball placed seven players in D1Baseball’s midseason positional rankings, led by Logan Hughes and Connor Shouse as stars emerge.
Texas Tech baseball is still searching for consistency on the mound, but there’s no debating what this lineup has become.
The Red Raiders are loaded with proven bats, and that was reinforced again with seven Texas Tech players earning spots in D1Baseball’s midseason positional rankings.
That national recognition says plenty about where this offense stands halfway through the 2026 season. Texas Tech had players honored at catcher, first base, second base, shortstop, third base and twice in the outfield, a sign that this lineup has impact talent all over the diamond.
Logan Hughes led the way for the Red Raiders, checking in as the No. 10 outfielder in the country. Hughes has backed up the hype with another strong year, batting .364 with eight home runs, 37 RBIs and a team-high 40 runs scored.
His ability to get on base and drive the ball continues to make him one of the most dangerous hitters in the Big 12.
Connor Shouse wasn’t far behind in national standing, earning the No. 11 spot among third basemen.
He’s been a force for Texas Tech, hitting .379 with eight homers and a team-best 41 RBIs while also leading the club with 44 hits.
The rest of the infield got plenty of love, too.
Catcher Matt Quintanar landed at No. 26 after hitting .340 with 24 RBIs while showing real value behind the plate. First baseman Robin Villeneuve ranked No. 17 at his position thanks to a .376 average, nine home runs and a .727 slugging percentage.
Freshman shortstop Linkin Garcia came in at No. 25 after posting a .357 average with 39 RBIs, while Tracer Lopez gave Tech another ranked infielder at second base.

Caden Ferraro rounded out the list in the outfield after hitting .410 with 11 doubles and a .518 on-base percentage.
For a Texas Tech team trying to make a push in Big 12 play, the message is simple: the bats are real, and the national attention is catching up.
