Texas Tech closes its home schedule against BYU with Senior Day, Big 12 Tournament hopes and Tim Tadlock nearing 500 wins.

Texas Tech baseball has three home games left, and every one of them matters.

The Red Raiders welcome BYU to Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park this week for their final home series of the 2026 season, with postseason positioning, Senior Day emotions and a milestone chase for head coach Tim Tadlock all packed into one huge weekend in Lubbock.

Texas Tech enters the series 24-24 overall and 7-17 in Big 12 play, tied with Arizona for the 12th and final spot in the Big 12 Tournament.

That makes this Thursday-through-Saturday series against BYU more than a farewell to the home crowd.

The Cougars arrive at 24-23 overall and 12-12 in conference play. Since BYU joined the Big 12, the home team has won each series between the programs.

Tech took two of three in Lubbock in 2024, while BYU answered by winning the series in Provo last season.

The Red Raiders also come in with some offensive life. After a rough stretch in Big 12 play, Texas Tech has scored 26 runs over its last three games and hit 13 home runs across its last 12 contests.

Logan Hughes has been the loudest bat in that surge, blasting five homers over that span while climbing MLB Draft boards.

Hughes is hitting .394 in Big 12 play this season, with a .486 on-base percentage and .670 slugging percentage through 24 conference games.

He recently passed 60 RBIs on the year and has been mocked as high as No. 28 overall to the Houston Astros by Perfect Game.

Connor Shouse has also caught fire. He went 8-for-11 with two homers and seven RBIs in the Baylor series, then delivered on both sides against Dallas Baptist, going 2-for-4 while earning his first career save.

Saturday will bring a major tribute as Texas Tech honors seniors Ryan Free, Jonny Lowe, Jacob Rogers, Tracer Lopez and Robin Villeneuve.

Lopez enters the weekend hitting .366 with 70 hits and 19 doubles, while continuing to climb several all-time program lists.

Tadlock also enters the weekend at 497 career wins, just three shy of 500.

For Texas Tech, the math is simple. Win now, or risk watching the Big 12 Tournament race slip away.
