Texas Tech signed Fort Worth forward Trey Hall, adding a state champion with size, toughness and shooting touch to Grant McCasland’s roster.

Texas Tech basketball just added another hard-edged piece to Grant McCasland’s next roster.

The Red Raiders officially signed freshman forward Trey Hall for the 2026-27 season, bringing in a 6-7, 210-pound Fort Worth product who already knows how to win big.

Hall helped North Crowley capture the 2026 Class 6A state championship and now brings that championship edge to Lubbock.

Hall wasn’t just along for the ride, either.

As a senior, he averaged 14.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 65 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range. In the state title game, he delivered an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double to help North Crowley finish 35-3 and secure the program’s second state crown.

That’s the kind of production Texas Tech can work with.

Hall also earned Class 6A All-Tournament honors, District 3 Co-Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-District, All-Region and All-Academic recognition. He finished his high school career with 547 points, 341 rebounds and 73 blocked shots.

For McCasland, Hall fits the identity: tough, versatile, physical and not afraid of big moments.

Texas Tech is coming off a 23-11 season and its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance under McCasland. The Red Raiders also went 74-31 across his first three seasons, beat a program-record four Top 10 teams and finished No. 21 in the AP Top 25 after climbing as high as No. 10.

That’s not a rebuild anymore. That’s a standard.

Hall joins a new-look group that includes transfers Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn from UNLV, Cruz Davis from Hofstra and Damarion Dennis from Wyoming, plus incoming freshman DaKari Spear from Dynamic Prep.

Texas Tech keeps stacking players who fit its bite.

Hall gives the Red Raiders another young forward with length, efficiency and winning habits. In McCasland’s system, that’s a pretty good place to start.
