The No. 2-ranked Red Raiders now play home games at Tracy Sellers Field.

LUBBOCK, Texas - The home of Texas Tech's No. 2-ranked softball team has undergone many renovations over the past year.

Since the Red Raiders' first trip to the Women's College World Series, the school has added an awning over the behind-home seats of the home park, new netting down the foul lines, and enhanced visual identity replacing original Double T logos with the school's revamped icon (which will go into rotation school wide in the fall).

Now the venue will be known by a new name.

Texas Tech has renamed its softball facility Tracy Sellers Field, paying homage to an alum of the program and one of the most influencial families in the recent growth of the program.

Tracy Sellers, formally Tracy Cartier, played softball for the Red Raiders from 2001-03. She and her husband John Sellers have "been a driving force behind Texas Tech's rise in softball, contributing to both the Red Raider Club and Matador Club for Name-Image-Likeness (NIL) support as well as to significant capital projects such as the facility now in her name."

"The Sellers family has forever transformed the trajectory of our softball program here at Texas Tech," athletic director Kirby Hocutt said. "Thanks to their generosity, the Red Raiders are annual contenders for not only Big 12 Conference championships but national titles. We're proud that our softball student-athletes will now compete on a field named after one of their own in Tracy Sellers thanks to the tremendous support she and her husband John have consistently provided to further elevate this athletics program."

Tracy was joined the program just five years after it was reinstated at Texas Tech and joined the Big 12 Conference. The Red Raiders won their first Big 12 title last season, notably thanks to National Pitcher of the Year NiJaree Canady, who transferred into the program and became college softball's first-ever $1 million figure in the NIL era.

John Sellers is also a former student-athlete at Texas Tech. He was a football player under Mike Leach and was teammates with Cody Campbell, the current Chairman of Texas Tech's Board of Regents.

Sellers and Campbell co-founded Double Eagle Holdings, "one of the most successful oil and gas exploration and development companies in the country," and has also co-founded Texas Tech's NIL collective, the Matador Club, that has now integrated with the Red Raider Club.

"We can't wait to watch championship softball for years to come at Tracy Sellers Field," John Sellers said. "This is an incredible honor for Tracy and our entire family. We believe the value of being a student-athlete at Texas Tech is unmatched and can take you anywhere in life. We're proud to support women's athletics and namely our softball program as Coach Glasco and our student-athletes continue to elevate Texas Tech to an annual national contender."

The Red Raiders currently sit atop the Big 12 standings with an 8-1 conference record and 31-2 mark overall.

They begin their first conference series at newly-named Tracy Sellers Field against Iowa State on Friday, March 27, at 6 p.m. CT. The Red Raiders host the Cyclones on Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (noon) afternoon for a three-game series.
