Texas Tech softball climbed back to No. 1 in three national polls this week as NiJaree Canady, Kaitlyn Terry and Jackie Lis fuel a 13-game win streak.
Texas Tech softball is back in the national spotlight, and the Red Raiders have the ranking to prove it.
After another strong week, Texas Tech moved back to No. 1 in three of the four major national polls, giving the program its second stint at the top spot during the 2026 season.
The latest rise reflects just how consistent the Red Raiders have been through the first half of the year.
Texas Tech has won 13 straight games, one of the longest active streaks in the country, and has built a 38-win season behind elite pitching, timely hitting and steady production across the lineup.
In the newest rankings, D1Softball, ESPN/USA Softball and the NFCA all slotted the Red Raiders at No. 1, while Softball America placed Tech at No. 2.
A big reason Texas Tech softball has become one of the nation’s toughest teams is its dominant pitching duo.
NiJaree Canady and Kaitlyn Terry have combined for 30 of the team’s 38 victories, giving the Red Raiders one of the best one-two punches in college softball.
When Tech gets quality starts from both arms, it becomes incredibly difficult to beat.
The offense has surged lately, too. Jackie Lis has been one of the hottest hitters in the Big 12 and is coming off conference player of the week honors.
Terry has also delivered at the plate, carrying a 26-game hitting streak into last weekend and setting a new school record in the process.
Now the challenge shifts from ranking talk to maintaining momentum.
Texas Tech faces a demanding stretch with six road games in six days, starting Friday against Utah and wrapping up Wednesday against Texas State.
With the postseason inching closer, the Red Raiders look every bit like a national title contender again.
And for the second time this season, Texas Tech softball is sitting at No. 1.
