Texas Tech women’s golf jumped four spots to 13th at the Huntington Bank Collegiate after an even-par second round led by Maja Ambroziak.
DALLAS - Texas Tech women’s golf found some momentum Monday at the Huntington Bank Collegiate, bouncing back in a big way during the second round at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
After a difficult start to the day, the Red Raiders settled in and posted an even-par 288 in round two, giving them a 36-hole total of 16-over 592 and lifting them into 13th place entering Tuesday’s final round.
That second-round surge was exactly what Texas Tech needed. The Red Raiders opened the tournament with a 304, then turned things around with the seventh-best round of the afternoon.
It was a much sharper performance across the lineup and gave Tech a chance to finish the event on a stronger note.
Maja Ambroziak led Texas Tech women’s golf with the steadiest day on the team. She followed a first-round 74 with a 2-under 70 in round two to move to even-par 144 for the tournament, good for a tie for 25th.
Ambroziak’s second round featured four birdies and just two bogeys, and she finished Monday as Tech’s top scorer in both rounds.
Klara Hurtova also helped fuel the climb up the leaderboard. She carded a 75 in the opening round before improving to a 71 in the second, leaving her tied for 40th at 2-over 146.
Denisa Vodickova sits tied for 60th after rounds of 76 and 74, while Cameron Freund recovered nicely from a 79 with a second-round 73 to reach 8-over 152.

Danique Stokmans rounded out the Texas Tech lineup at 15-over 159 through 36 holes.
At the top of the team standings, UCLA holds first place at 17-under 559, just one shot ahead of Oklahoma State. SMU is third at 12-under, followed by Houston and Oklahoma.
The final round of the Huntington Bank Collegiate begins Tuesday morning with an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.
