Texas Tech ace NiJaree Canady received the first AUSL Golden Ticket of 2026 after another dominant outing, signaling her path to pro softball.

Texas Tech softball star NiJaree Canady added another major milestone to her standout season Friday night.

After helping lead the No. 2 Red Raiders to a 9-1 win over Iowa State, Canady was presented with the first AUSL Golden Ticket of the 2026 season, a moment that officially put her on the path toward professional softball.

For Texas Tech fans, it felt like the latest reminder of just how special Canady’s year has been.

The AUSL Golden Ticket serves as a public draft selection announcement, signaling that a player has been chosen to join the Athletes Unlimited Softball League once her college career ends.

Canady becoming the first player this season to receive that honor says plenty about how she’s viewed across the sport.

She’s already established herself as one of the biggest names in college softball, and now she’s taking another step toward the next level.

The timing made the moment even better. Canady didn’t just receive the honor on a random night.

She earned it after another strong performance in the circle, throwing a complete-game win in Texas Tech’s run-rule victory over Iowa State.

That kind of outing has become routine for her, which is exactly why she’s drawing so much professional attention.

The presentation itself also carried some extra weight. AUSL commissioner Kim Ng delivered the Golden Ticket, and Texas Tech alum Patrick Mahomes appeared in a congratulatory video message to mark the occasion.

That gave the postgame ceremony a bigger spotlight and made the celebration feel fitting for one of the sport’s premier players.

Canady now becomes one of the headliners for what should be a loaded 2026 AUSL draft class.

The full draft order and team selections will be revealed during the AUSL College Draft Show on May 4 on ESPN2.

For now, Texas Tech still has bigger goals in front of it, and Canady remains central to all of them.

But Friday night offered a glimpse at what’s coming next. Her college dominance is already turning into a professional opportunity, and that’s no surprise to anyone who’s watched her this season.
